The Queensland Sentencing and Advisory Council (QSAC) is seeking input on a consultation paper produced as part of its review of domestic and family violence sentencing.

The review will assess the impact of a legislative changes in 2015 and 2016, which required courts to treat domestic violence offences as aggravating, and increased maximum penalties for a contravention of a domestic violence order.

Council Chair Ann Lyons said the review was important for advising the government on the impact of recent sentencing reforms.

She said submissions were invited from community members, legal professionals and victim advocates across Queensland.
