QLS staff hoping to step up fundraising

The Queensland Law Society team raised $2700 at last year's Legal Walk in Brisbane.

Queensland Law Society staff are hoping to surpass last year’s fundraising efforts at this year’s LawRight Queensland Legal Walk in Brisbane next month.

Held on National Pro Bono Day (the Tuesday of National Law Week), the Legal Walk is a fundraiser and chance to acknowledge pro bono work undertaken by the legal profession.

Walks will take place on 20 May in Brisbane, Cairns, Toowoomba, Townsville, Mt Tamborine, Sunshine Coast and the Gold Coast, raising crucial funds to support LawRight’s work.

Last year’s QLS team raised more than $2700 and the Charity and Volunteering Committee is hoping to top that figure in 2025.

LawRight will donate the first $10,000 raised to Townsville Community Law to support disaster relief efforts and is dedicated to increasing access to justice for vulnerable and disadvantaged Queenslanders.

All walks begin with arrival at 6.45am, with the event starting at 7am. In Brisbane, walkers should meet at the Supreme and District Court forecourt, 415 George Street, for a 5km scenic loop around South Bank and returning to the forecourt.

Coffee and a light breakfast provided at the end of the walk
