The Women Lawyers Association of Queensland (WLAQ) has celebrated the highest-performing female law graduates across the state, with this year recording the highest number of award recipients.

On 1 April, the WLAQ recognised the graduates by presenting awards honouring a trailblazer, Una Prentice. She was the first person to graduate from the Faculty of Law at the University of Queensland in 1938.

The Una Prentice Award recipients were:

  • Ruby Ioannou, University of Queensland
  • Lilith Humbler-Nicholls, Griffith University
  • Tullia Rohrsheim, Queensland University of Technology
  • Emily Petherick, Central Queensland University
  • Jessica Cherry, University of Sunshine Coast
  • Patrisha Vowles, University of Southern Queensland
  • Natalie Feltrin, James Cook University
  • Molly Swanson, Bond University
  • Emma Rogers, Southern Cross University
  • Miranda Evans, Australian Catholic University,

WLAQ President Sarah Ford said celebrating the award recipients with their families and universities was “a meaningful and heartwarming way to honour the students’ hard work, commitment, and success”.

“The WLAQ was immensely impressed by the calibre of this year’s recipients,” Sarah said.

“We have no doubt that they will enjoy many more personal and professional achievements in years to come.”

The award is supported by the College of Law Queensland. In 2017, WLAQ announced the Honourable Justice Debra Mullins AO as the inaugural Patron of the Una Prentice Memorial Trust.
