Cyclone Alfred may have forced the postponement of the Ipswich District Law Association Committee’s welcome drinks for Judge Chowdhury, but they will go ahead this month.
Judge Chowdhury was appointed a judge of the District Court of Queensland on 12 May 2016. He is a graduate of The University of Queensland – Bachelor of Arts (1985) and Bachelor of Laws (1986).
His Honour started his legal career as a prosecutor at the Office of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, Canberra (1988–1990) before working with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (1990–2000) as Crown Prosecutor and later, Principal Crown Prosecutor.
His Honour served as a Deputy Public Defender at Legal Aid Queensland (2000–2002) before going into practice as a barrister in 2002.
The event will be held on Friday, 27 June, starting at 4.30pm at Stoney Creek Brewing Company (old Pump Yard).
