Feedback sought on surrogacy laws

The Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) is seeking feedback from practitioners on an Issues Paper released today as part of its Review of Surrogacy Laws.

The paper provides a broad outline of the review and sets out 27 questions for stakeholders on issues including barriers to domestic surrogacy, legal parentage of children born through surrogacy, and citizenship of children born through overseas surrogacy.

The deadline for submissions is 11 July 2025. Review the paper here.

The ALRC is required to provide its final report to the Federal Government by 29 July 2026.
