An expert in child protection will deliver the annual Leneen Forde Public Address in Brisbane later this month.
Professor Daryl Higgins, Director of the Institute of Child Protection Studies at Australian Catholic University, will present Understanding the Nature, Prevalence and Impact of Child Maltreatment: What This Means for Child Protection Practice at the Banco Court on Thursday, 28 August.
Hosted by the Child Protection Practitioners Association of Queensland, the address is named in honour of Ms Forde AO, who led the 1999 Inquiry into Child Abuse in Queensland Institutions.
Professor Higgins was a Chief Investigator in the Australian Child Maltreatment Study, the first national study of the prevalence in Australia of child abuse and neglect, and its health outcomes.
The address will be held from 6pm to 7.30pm, followed by a networking reception. Register here to attend in person, or here to join via livestream
