Megan Fowke has joined Gilshenan & Luton as a Senior Associate with extensive advocacy experience in criminal law.
She practices in all aspects of criminal law including drug-related offences, sexual offences, fraud and white-collar crime, offences of violence, property offences and youth justice matters.
Megan is a member of the Women Lawyers Association of Queensland. She also holds a Master of Laws in International Law from the Australian National University.
She was admitted as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Queensland in July 2012.
Before her admission, she joined the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and spent nine years holding various positions, developing her skills as a legal officer and later, as a Crown Prosecutor.
In 2020, Megan began working in the Strategic Policy and Legislation branch of the Department of Justice as a principal legal officer. She provided advice to the Attorney-General, the Director-General, and other government agencies in relation to criminal law reform and issues impacting the criminal law. Megan has also appeared on behalf of the Department of Justice in Parliamentary Committee hearings on legislative reforms.
Before joining Gilshenan & Luton, Megan worked in the legal services branch of the Department of Youth Justice and Victim Services in the areas of administrative law and coronial matters.
