Nominations for the 2025 Queensland Law Society Council election closed yesterday with nominations received for all positions.

There were two nominations for President, three for Deputy President, two for Vice President, and 24 nominations for the role of Ordinary Councillor.
As there were more nominations than vacancies for the positions of President, Deputy President, Vice President and Ordinary Member of Council, the QLS membership will go to the polls.
Voting opens on 25 September.
QLS Council is made up of 12 members, with an additional member appointed by the Attorney-General. Councillors are elected for a two-year term.
The terms for these positions will start on 1 January 2026 and will conclude 31 December 2027.
