Sexual Offence Expert Evidence Panel Stream 2 experts will be available from this week in Brisbane and Townsville courts.
From Saturday, referrals will open for panel experts to give evidence about the nature of sexual offences, and the social, psychological and cultural factors that may affect the behaviour of a victim or alleged victim of a sexual offence.
Referrals can be made by the prosecution, defence or the court.
Referrals opened in February for Stream 1 experts to give evidence about a defendant’s cognitive or mental health impairment and its impact on determining consent.
Panel experts are funded for Brisbane and Townsville courts only.
Information sessions for legal practitioners will be held in the Banco Court in Brisbane on Tuesday, 7 October, and at the Townsville Courthouse on Thursday, 16 October.
