New Cairns lawyers were treated to an extra-special admission sitting recently courtesy of the Honourable Chief Justice Bowskill who was on circuit in Far North Queensland.
Natalie Feltrin was one of nine lawyers admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland last month in Cairns. In April, she was the recipient of the Una Prentice Award as James Cook University’s 2024 female graduate with the highest GPA,
Natalie said the most memorable part of her admission was the moment the Chief Justice admitted her to the legal profession in the presence of my family and friends.

“Hearing the words ‘Let Ms Feltrin be admitted’ was an unforgettable moment and signing the roll solidified the reality that I was officially a legal practitioner,” Natalie said.
“This milestone was especially meaningful as I got to share it with the people who supported me throughout my studies.
“For me, choosing to pursue law wasn’t immediate, it was something that grew over time as I realised what kind of work was meaningful to me.
“I have always been driven by the desire to help people, and law combined my passion to assist individuals and provide impactful results with the ability to constantly learn and challenge myself.
“I was also drawn to law as it is intellectually stimulating, allowing me to solve complex problems and engage with issues that have a real impact on people and the community.”
A law graduate at Law Solutions Partners, Natalie choose her mentor to move her admission.
“I asked Kayla Greenwood, Special Counsel, to move my admission as she provided invaluable mentorship to me throughout the beginning of my legal career,” she said.
“From my time as an undergraduate paralegal to law graduate and now as I enter the profession as a lawyer, Kayla has offered me constant support and guidance which I am incredibly grateful for.
“She has helped cultivate my skills and professional growth, and I am fortunate to continue learning from her. Having Kayla move my admission made this milestone even more meaningful.”
Kayla said it was a real pleasure to move Natalie’s admission.
“I have had the privilege of working with her closely and mentoring her over the last three years,” Kayla said.
“Moving her admission was not only a proud moment, but also a well-deserved recognition of her hard work, integrity, and dedication. I have every confidence that she will continue to excel and make valuable contributions to the profession in the years ahead.
“I’ve had the privilege to move another young lawyer’s admission in recent years, however this experience stands out a little as the Honourable Chief Justice Bowskill was on circuit in the Cairns Supreme Court at the time.
“As a property lawyer, I do not see the inside of a courtroom often, so it was an honour to have had the opportunity to appear in front of Her Honour for this special ceremony.”
Natalie’s future plans are to develop a well-rounded foundation in legal practice, learn from experienced professionals and refine her skills.
“I hope to grow both professionally and personally and build the experience to make meaningful contributions to my specialised practice area. I intend to build a career where I can continue learning while contributing positively to clients and the wider community. “
The following lawyers were admitted in Cairns on 28 November were: Alison Duncan, Natalie Feltrin, Michael Hayes, Munjit Kaur, Campbell Steer, Tyler Lawson, Amy Anderson, Stanfield Roche and Stephanie Paul.
