VIQ Solutions Pty Ltd, one of two providers of recording and transcription services to Queensland Courts and Tribunals, has entered voluntary administration.
These services extend to 13 jurisdictions across the Court of Appeal, Supreme, District and Land Courts, Magistrates Court, Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal, and Queensland Industrial Relations Commission.
The Department of Justice has been informed by McGrathNicol, the appointed voluntary administrators, that continuity of critical services will be prioritised wherever possible, recognising the significant impact any disruption will have on Queensland Courts and Tribunals.
The department is actively exploring a range of options to mitigate potential impacts on court operations and court users arising from this development.
At this time, transcripts may be requested as per the current process.
The department is engaging closely with the heads of jurisdiction and other key legal stakeholders including the Director of Public Prosecutions to ensure continuity of court operations.
It remains committed to working collaboratively with all stakeholders to minimise disruption and ensure the justice system operates effectively during this period.
