Seven HopgoodGanim graduates were recently admitted on the one day at the September sittings in Brisbane’s Banco Court, one of the largest groups the firm has seen.
This year, 10 graduates joined the program across Brisbane and Perth, with seven admitted on the same day in Brisbane.
Nada Dawood, Josephine Mok, Sarah Roberts, Blake Avey, Tia Vanden Bergh, Jack Waugh and Graceilla Gandhi were all admitted as lawyers of the Supreme Court of Queensland.
Ms Dawood said being admitted “was a really special moment” which marked the transition from learning about the law to having the privilege and responsibility of practising it.
“Throughout my studies and early career, I have come to appreciate how diverse the profession is and how much there is to learn in an ever-evolving legal landscape,” she said.
“What excites me most is the opportunity to continue developing my skills, learning from experienced practitioners and seeing where the profession takes me.”
Mr Waugh said the ceremony was a chance to reflect on years of study and hard work.
“It was particularly special to share the day with my family and friends, who have supported me and been along for the ride from the beginning,” he said.
“I am also very grateful to my mentors and peers, and I look forward to continuing to learn from them.”
HopgoodGanim’s graduate program has been running for more than 10 years and has supported the development of more than 150 graduates across Brisbane and Perth offices.
The two-year program combines practical experience through rotations in different practice areas with formal training, mentoring and professional development opportunities, reflecting the firm’s strong commitment to investing in the next generation of lawyers and future leaders.
