COVID-19: Important Criminal law Update from the Brisbane Magistrates Court

In light of the recent announcement regarding the Greater Brisbane 3-day lockdown, the Brisbane Magistrates Court has requested that practitioners who have matters in the Brisbane Magistrates Court committal callover on Monday 11 January 2021 should consider writing to the Court today to seek an adjournment electronically (once the consent of the prosecution has been obtained).  This is to minimise persons coming into court on Monday.

The usual two day time limit for making such applications will not be imposed. Consent from the prosecution will still be required. Apply by the online form or email to: courthouse.brisbane@justice.qld.gov.au.

*Practitioners are advised that as the situation may change quickly, we will endeavour to keep you updated as more information comes to hand via Proctor online here. Updates from the Queensland Government’s response to COVID-19 can be found here.
