Practitioners have been invited to assist in a research study on the impact of remote access technologies on vulnerable individuals involved in criminal proceedings.
Remote access technologies include audio-visual links (AVL), video links and software platforms such as Teams. Vulnerable individuals include vulnerable witnesses, victims and defendants.
The study is being conducted by University of Sydney researchers from the Sydney Law School and funded by an Australian Research Council ‘Discovery Early Career Researcher Award’ grant (DE210100586).
The aim is to understand how vulnerable individuals are identified and treated when using remote access technologies during criminal proceedings from the perspective of the judiciary and lawyers.
