Call for submissions and experiences: Mandatory reporting of child sex abuse

Queensland Law Society is seeking views from the profession on the way in which s229BC of the Criminal Code (Mandatory reporting of child sex offences) is (or is not) impacting legal practice.

The main purpose in seeking this information is to ensure guidance material addresses any difficulties practitioners are experiencing. The secondary purpose is to assist the QLS in making appropriate submissions to government if a review into the operation of the provision is conducted.

Comments, questions and submissions can be made on an open or confidential basis (please specify) and need not be detailed or formal. Individual experiences and opinions are welcome, as are any outlines or guidance organisations have supplied to their staff.

If you have any interest in research or assisting with preparation of guidance materials, please let us know.

Please forward any responses to d.bowles@qls.com.au or call the QLS Ethics Centre on 3842 5843.
