Seven new judicial appointments to FCFCOA

The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia has welcomed seven judicial appointments announced today by Attorney-General Mark Dreyfus KC.

The new judges, who will commence on Monday 6 February 2023, are Judge Jennifer McArdle (Brisbane, Division 2), Justice Rebecca Curran (Sydney, Division 1), Judge Louise Goodchild (Sydney, Division 2), Judge Dina Lioumis (Sydney, Division 2), Judge Janine Young (Melbourne, Division 2), Judge Mark Champion (Melbourne, Division 2) and Judge Amanda Humphreys (Melbourne, Division 2).

Judge Jennifer McArdle is an experienced barrister, having been called to the Bar in 2010. Her Honour’s practice included all aspects of family law and child protection matters, having represented clients in the federal and state courts, both in Brisbane and in regional areas.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Judge McArdle was admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland in 1989, and worked in private practice for several years, advising on wills and estates, commercial property, personal injuries matters and family law

In 1995, she joined Legal Aid Queensland, as a solicitor in its Family Law section. Her Honour is an accredited Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner and arbitrator. Judge McArdle has been listed in Doyle’s Guide as a leading family law barrister in Queensland.

The FCFCOA now has a national total of 111 judges.
