Countdown to election begins

The countdown to next month’s Queensland Law Society (QLS) Council Election has begun.

Nominations open on 11 September and only full members on the Roll of Electors on that date are eligible to stand for election, vote and nominate candidates.

To be included on the roll, please ensure you are a full member before 8 September and your contact details, especially your email address, mobile phone number and address, are up to date.

QLS Corporate Secretary Louise Pennisi said it was never too early to start election preparations.

“You can start preparing now to get involved,” Louise said. “You should be checking to see if your contact details are up to date on myQLS and that you are a full member. If you are thinking of running, it is never too early to reach out to ask your supporters to confirm they are also full members.

“You can check by logging into myQLS or contacting records@qls.com.au.

“Ensuring your email, address and phone contact details are correct is crucial so you don’t miss out on any key election communications.”

If you have just been admitted or are unsure of your membership status, please check before the roll closes on 11 September.

The Society encourages practitioners from all around the state, all practice areas and all levels of post admission experience to nominate and vote in this year’s council election.
