Career Moves: Thynne + Macartney

Thynne + Macartney is excited to announce the promotion of three lawyers, from 1 July 2024.

The promotions are Vicky Martin to Special Counsel (Wills and Estates), Lewis Radford to Associate (Planning and Environment) and Conor Harvey to Associate (Disputes and Insolvency).

Chairman of Partners Marc Maskell said: “”We are extremely proud to celebrate these career achievements. These promotions are a reflection of the contributions Vicky, Lewis and Conor have made to Thynne + Macartney, and recognises the growth and accomplishments each has achieved throughout their respective career journeys.”

Vicky Martin

Vicky Martin was promoted to Senior Associate in the Wills and Estates group in 2022 after joining Thynne + Macartney as an Associate in 2020. Her 30-plus-year career in the legal industry includes various legal and non-legal roles. For the last 19 years, she has worked exclusively in the wills and estates practice area. Vicky has had a significant impact on her colleagues and clients during her time at Thynne + Macartney, and was the 2023 recipient of the Bill Loughnan award for outstanding client service.

Vicky was listed as a Wills, Estate & Succession Planning Law Rising Star by Doyle’s Guide in 2021 and is a committee member of the Queensland Branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).

Lewis Radford

Lewis Radford joined Thynne + Macartney’s Planning and Environment team as a law clerk in 2021 before his admission and promotion to Lawyer in 2022. Lewis has worked with partner Tim Quirk on several landmark and high-profile decisions including the successful defence of an action to overturn a decision of Brisbane City Council allowing the development of one of Australia’s largest indoor gyms.

Conor Harvey

Conor Harvey joined the firm as a lawyer in March 2023 and quickly established himself as a key member of the Disputes and Insolvency team. Since joining the team he has worked with partner Marc Maskell on significant insolvencies and disputes.

He acts for clients in a range of litigious and non-litigious disputes. He has appeared in Magistrates Court of Queensland, District Court of Queensland and Supreme Court of Queensland. Before joining Thynne + Macartney in 2023, Conor gained eight years’ experience at a commercial law firm in legal and non-legal roles.
