A record of $108,000 was raised for LawRight at last month’s Red Wine for Justice 2024 event in Brisbane.
Red Wine for Justice is held every two years to help subsidise programs which support access to justice.
LawRight Co-CEO and Director Governance & Operations Linda Macpherson said the fundraiser was a “tremendous success thanks to all who either donated wines and prizes, participated in the bidding or came along to enjoy the night”.
“Through the generosity of our supporters, we raised a record total of $108,000, our most successful Red Wine for Justice yet,” Linda said.
“It was a night filled with the lively fun of the main auction, an entertaining guest speaker – the Honourable Acting Justice Phillip Morrison – and the chance to meet or catch up with colleagues and friends whilst enjoying some lovely drinking wines and delicious food.
“We also had a record number of auction items and raffle prizes this year – 31 in the main auction, 20 in the silent auction and seven raffle prizes. Congratulations to all the successful bidders and raffle winners.
“We are grateful for this overwhelming support to raise such a significant amount to help LawRight supplement its services to ensure no one is denied justice because of their financial position.
“We would like to acknowledge and thank all our donors, bidders and supporters, our auctioneer, Yianni Mooney, and our hosts, Herbert Smith Freehills, who all helped to make Red Wine for Justice 2024 such a resounding success.”
