Legal practitioners will have the ability to lodge Applications for Grant of Probate, Letters of Administration and other probate applications electronically to manage proceedings across Queensland.
From initiating applications to receiving documents, requisitions and final grants, there will be no need to attend a registry in person or mail in an application.
Supreme Court registries in Queensland will have a new way to receive electronic documents, expanding on the existing practice in Brisbane Supreme Court since 2021.
Currently, only the Brisbane Supreme Court registry can receive electronic Applications for Grant of Probate and Letters of Administration without the need to receive originals, other than the will.
The new Wills and Estates system will expand this to include Townsville, Cairns and Rockhampton.
This initiative forms part of the Queensland Court and Tribunals’ commitment to advancing digital technologies and enhancing services through digitisation.
More information about the new service will be available on the Queensland Courts Website and published in Proctor.
