Bar mourns loss of colourful mentor

The Queensland Bar and wider profession is mourning the loss of James “Jim” Crowley KC, who died on 23 December, aged 89.

A life member of the Bar Association, James was well known for achievements including creating the Bar News, running annual inter-bar cricket matches, being Deputy Commissioner of the (then) Criminal Justice Commission, being chair of the Bar Practice Course, and receiving the Army’s Reserved Force Decoration.

He was also known for wearing stylish bow ties and a fedora.

His funeral service was held in Brisbane on Friday.
