Heritage places in spotlight for seminar

Queensland Environmental Law Association will kick off its 2025 seminars by focusing on heritage places.

Next week’s virtual seminar Heritage Listings and Appeals will consider the heritage listing process through to appeals in relation to heritage-listed properties.

It will follow recent Planning and Environment Court decisions which have brought attention to Queensland heritage register listings and their interpretation.

The seminar speakers will be:

  • Sean O’Keeffe, Team Leader at Heritage, Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation;
  • David Nicholls, Consultant, Planning & Environment, HopgoodGanim Lawyers; and member, Queensland Heritage Council; and
  • Michael Leong, Partner, Environment & Planning, Corrs Chambers Westgarth.

Chair will be Eva Coggins, Senior Lawyer, Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation.
