The Gold Coast District Law Association (GCDLA) and legal community is mourning the loss of principal Rita Derek, who passed away on 17 March, 2025.
Admitted in 1979, Rita practised predominantly in family law, compensation and civil litigation, and was director of Southport firm Derek Legal.
Her funeral will be held tomorrow, 27 March, at Sacred Heart Church, Clear Island Waters, at 11am, followed by a celebration of her life at Juju Mermaid Beach at 2pm.
Dress code is colourful attire.
The GCDLA extended its deepest sympathies in a social media post and stated: “Rita was an excellent solicitor, a wonderful lady and a loving wife.”
