Advice for judicial officers on AI use

Queensland Courts has issued guidelines for judicial officers about the use of Generative AI, in a bid to help them understand the risks associated with its use in courts and tribunals.

The guidelines released last week state that is likely that the use of Generative AI tools by lawyers, litigants, judicial officers and their staff will become more widespread.

They relate to issues including confidentiality, suppression and privacy; accountability and accuracy; security and ethics.
