Members will be aware of the Notice of Vacancy distributed to members on 13 January (13 January Notice) notifying of a vacancy on Council to ascertain whether members require an election to be held to fill the vacancy.
In the event members do not require an election to be held, Council must appoint a member to fill the vacancy.
To facilitate the expeditious filling of the Council vacancy, Queensland Law Society is inviting expressions of interest for the role of Councillor on QLS Council. The position of ordinary member of Council is not remunerated. The term concludes on 31 December 2023.
Full members of the Society may express interest by providing:
- a brief CV (no more than two pages)
- a cover letter (no more than two pages) addressing your area/s of practice, legal and board experience, and
- confirmation that none of the criteria set out in rule 29(3) of the Legal Profession (Society) Rules 2007 apply.

Following that date, Council will consider the applications received pursuant to the 13 January Notice and the EOIs received and make the relevant determinations in progressing an election or appointment in accordance with the Legal Profession (Society) Rules 2007.
