President Kingham appointed QLRC Chair

Current Land Court President Fleur Kingham has been appointed Chair of the Queensland Law Reform Commission following the resignation of Justice Peter Applegarth.

She will commence in the role full-time from 1 April.

President Kingham is a current part-time member of the commission and has a wealth of experience as a former District Court judge, Childrens Court of Queensland judge and a judge of the Planning and Environment Court.

“I am delighted the Queensland Law Reform Commission will continue to benefit from President of the Land Court of Queensland Fleur Kingham’s leadership and extensive legal experience as a lawyer and judicial officer,” Attorney-General and Justice Minister Shannon Fentiman said.

“As Chair, President Kingham can draw insights from throughout her distinguished career in the judiciary, as well as her previous experience as an environmental lawyer, as a university lecturer, and as a mediator of complex disputes including Indigenous land and governance issues.

“I would also like to thank outgoing Chair Justice Peter Applegarth for his diligent service to the commission, noting in particular his exemplary leadership during the commission’s recent voluntary assisted dying review.”
