Legal roadshow reaches Stanthorpe

Stanthorpe will be the final stop on the Downs and South West Queensland Law Association’s (DSWQLA) Rural and Regional Roadshow 2023.

The full-day event on 6 October will cover a range of topics tailored to the farming and wine region, and is worth 4.5 CPD.

It will kick off with an Early Career Lawyers Panel, which will include Queensland Young Lawyers Vice President Kimia Zarei, University of Southern Queensland (USQ) Law Society President Jaidyn Paroz, and emerging Goondiwindi lawyer Doug Anderson.

The panel will be facilitated by Kirstie Smith, who is a DSWQLA committee member, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Service consulting solicitor, and USQ Lecturer in First Nations and Law.

Speakers to follow will include:

  • Alexander McKinnon, barrister at 16 Quay Central Chambers
  • Professor Noeleen McNamara, USQ School of Law and Justice
  • Nicky Grummit, director of Grevillea Law
  • Sarah Webb, tax specialist at Power Tynan

The fully catered event will be held at Queensland College of Wine Tourism, from 9am to 5pm.

It will conclude with a networking dinner at 6pm at the college’s Varias Restaurant, which has an on-site winery (dinner tickets sold separately).

The Stanthorpe event follows an event in Warwick on 3 August and Goondiwindi on 14 September.
