Gold Coast mourns Principal’s passing

The Gold Coast District Law Association (GCDLA) and fellow practitioners are mourning the sudden passing of Dan Rawlings, the Principal of Rawlings Criminal Law.

The GCDLA Committee said “his smile will be missed”.

Dan was born in Perth and educated in New Zealand. Having gained his Bachelor of Laws from Otago University, he was admitted to the High Court of New Zealand in 2000 and subsequently admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia.

His formative years in criminal law were spent with the Auckland Public Defenders running bail applications, sentencings and defended hearings.

After relocating to Australia, Dan undertook significant work representing disadvantaged and vulnerable indigenous people in remote communities in the Kimberley, Pilbara and Cape York.

Dan was proud to travel in the pursuit of justice.
