Queensland Law Reform Commission (QLRC) Deputy-Chair Judge Anthony Rafter SC will present a keynote address at the 2024 Global Domestic Violence Conference in Cairns this week.
Judge Rafter will discuss the QLRC’s review of particular criminal defences.
His Honour will give an overview of the review’s scope and background, specifically discussing the relevance of the review in the domestic and family violence context, and outline the review’s next steps and how people can participate in the review.
The conference, to be held from 21 to 23 February, brings together professionals, academics, activists, advocates and survivors from around the world to discuss and address the issue of domestic violence.
The Commission recently launched its review of particular criminal defences at a packed house of more than 100 attendees, plus more than 50 online participants.
