QSAC visiting regions for input

The Queensland Sentencing Advisory Council (QSAC) will continue its regional visits to engage with stakeholders about the Assessing the impacts of domestic and family violence sentencing reforms in Queensland consultation paper.

QSAC has already travelled to Cairns and Mount Isa as it reviews and reports on the operation of the aggravating factor in section 9(10A) of the Penalties and Sentences Act 1992 (Qld) and the impact of the increase in maximum penalties for contravention of a domestic violence order.

Upcoming regional visits are planned for:   

  • Torres Strait Islands: 19–23 May 
  • Townsville: 11–13 June 
  • Roma: 18–20 June
  • Wide Bay Region (including Gympie, Hervey Bay, Maryborough and Bundaberg): 25–27 June. 

QSAC will also conduct consultation in South-East Queensland, including Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Toowoomba in July and August.   

A final report is due to the Attorney-General by 27 February 2026.
