eLodgement for civil claims now available

From today, 30 June, solicitors with a Queensland practising certificate can start a civil claim and lodge supporting documents electronically in the Brisbane Supreme Court via the Queensland Courts and Tribunals Online Services Portal (OSP)

Solicitors can also lodge documents for Brisbane Supreme Court civil claim matters which started before 30 June 2025 through the OSP.

This marks a significant step towards the digitisation of Queensland’s civil court processes.

eLodgement capability for all civil originating processes and appeals across all Queensland courts, for all court users, will follow in 2026 as part of the new civil case management system.

Supreme Court Commercial List matters and Objective Connect

Practitioners who have matters on the Supreme Court Commercial List can continue to use the Objective Connect file sharing platform in accordance with Supreme Court Practice Direction 1 of 2023.

From 30 June 2025, practitioners with matters commenced by claim and on the Supreme Court Commercial List may lodge documents for filing via the OSP. If the OSP is chosen, practitioners do not need to also lodge via Objective Connect.

Warning: Information about the firm administrator function

The OSP has a firm administrator function allowing a law firm to register and assign users within the firm to be able to access matters. However, the administrator cannot manage access to specific matters where the firm is involved. Any person in a firm who is granted access to OSP will be able to access every firm file available, and document lodged within that file, through the portal where elodgement has been used. This extends to being able to see and access documents that are still in “draft” form; that is, documents that are yet be lodged and filed.

Members should consider the appropriateness of using the OSP for certain matters, for example, sensitive matters, matters where there are information barriers in place or that are subject to other restrictions or concerns.
