IP Australia announces fee changes

IP Australia has announced updated fees, effective from 12am on 1 October.

These are the first changes to fees since 2015-2016 and follow an IP Australia cost recovery review.

The changes include significant fee increases for new trade mark applications that do not use IP Australia’s ‘picklist’ (an increase of 21% for a standard application) and changes to the fee structure for trade mark hearings, introducing a per day hearing fee.

Proposed changes to awards of costs for oppositions and hearings contained in the draft cost recovery implementation statement have not been introduced and will be subject to further consultation.

Background information on the changes to fee arrangements for IP Australia products is available, along with a list of the new fees.
