Queensland Law Society (QLS) President Elizabeth Shearer is pleased to announce the appointment of Rebecca Fogerty to the QLS Council. Rebecca is the nominee on Council of the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Women and the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence, the Hon Shannon Fentiman.
Rebecca is a highly regarded and experienced criminal defence lawyer and Accredited Specialist in Criminal Law. She was named in 2017, 2018 and 2019 in Doyle’s Guide of Leading Lawyers and is currently Chair of the QLS Criminal Law Committee.
Rebecca has already made a significant contribution to QLS and to the profession, particularly in her work, on behalf of criminal law solicitors, liaising with stakeholders in the criminal justice system to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prior to establishing Jasper Fogerty Lawyers, Rebecca was a senior lawyer at one of Queensland’s largest private criminal defence firms, handling complex indictable criminal matters. During this period, Rebecca has developed her reputation for thorough preparation, strategic case analysis and persuasive courtroom advocacy.
Rebecca has appeared in courts throughout Queensland as well as before Queensland Parliamentary committees, on behalf of QLS, to discuss criminal law policy.
In addition to her law degree, Rebecca also completed a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) and it is this experience and excellent people skills, that have earnt her a reputation of being client-focused and committed to achieving the best possible outcome.
