HopgoodGanim Lawyers has welcomed Special Counsel Helen Donovan and Senior Associates Gemma Sweeney and Andrew Foyster to support the firm’s growth plans for the year ahead.
Helen Donovan
Helen joins the firm as a Special Counsel in the workplace and employment team. She comes to HopgoodGanim with more than a decade of experience in workplace, employment and safety law.
Helen has a strong track record in the resolution of complicated employment and industrial disputes, advocacy in the Fair Work Commission, workplace investigations and employment law related advice in the context of corporate transactions.
In addition to her lengthy career in private practice, Helen has offered clients the benefit of her experience working in-house as a secondee for several large employers, including those in mining, infrastructure, banking and finance, and defence. 
Gemma Sweeney
Gemma joins as a Senior Associate in the resources and energy practice. She has significant experience advising on a range of commercial transactions across the mining, renewables and oil and gas industries.
Gemma has a particular interest in critical minerals, carbon capture and hydrogen. She has worked extensively across the sale and acquisition of mining and petroleum projects, joint ventures and project funding arrangements, foreign investment approvals and negotiating key commercial contracts such as offtake and royalty agreements.
Gemma’s arrival comes soon after the recent appointment of resources and energy Partner Adel van der Walt and the appointment of Partner James Plumb in July.
Andrew Foyster
Andrew joins HopgoodGanim as a Senior Associate in the family and relationship law team.
He brings his expertise working across all aspects of family law. Further, Andrew’s corporate and commercial experience allows him to assist clients on a variety of related issues including debt recovery, bankruptcy and insolvency, commercial litigation, body corporate disputes and guarantee advice.
