Library benefits modified for members

Supreme Court Library Queensland (SCLQ) and the Queensland Law Society have agreed to modify the library benefits available to full QLS members.

From 1 August 2024:

  • The free legal information research service provided by SCLQ will change from a daily to a weekly entitlement. The entitlements will be free research: One hour a week* and free document supply: 20 documents a week*. (*Unused weekly entitlements do not accrue)
  • This service will be subsidised by QLS to support the library in continuing to provide free services for Society members.
  • Fees will apply for urgent requests and requests in excess of the free entitlements.

QLS members will continue to have:

  • Free access to Virtual Legal Library (VLL) (for eligible members)
  • 24-hour access to the Brisbane library (on application)
  • Free access to the public legal research collection (available online with an SCLQ subscription)
  • Free use of onsite library facilities and collections
  • Free legal research training and support using legal research databases.

For SCLQ to continue to deliver this valued, specialised service provided by its expert legal research librarians, it must ensure it is financially sustainable.

SCLQ appreciates members’ support and patronage, and looks forward to continuing to serve QLS members.
