Queensland Law Society celebrated those in the profession who had been recognised in Doyle’s Guide, Best Lawyers, Chambers and Legal 500 Asia-Pacific as well as QLS Excellence in Law Award winners at this year’s Best Lawyers Breakfast.

More than 100 guests were acknowledged for their work by Queensland Law Society President Rebecca Fogerty at the Wednesday morning function, supported by event partners Bond University and Hays Recruitment, at Brisbane’s Customs House.

“Being named as a practitioner by one of these organisations is certainly an exceptional thing,” Rebecca said.

“And it reflects the respect, the admiration that you have garnered during your careers, and the dedication and consistency with which you strive for excellence in all aspects of your practice.

“It speaks of your commitment in advocating passionately for your clients. Of going above and beyond to be a trusted advisor. It shows the regard that your colleagues have for you whilst fulfilling your professional duty as an officer of the court.

“And it distinguishes you as a leader in the Queensland profession, upholding our core values of service, of community and of action.”

Rebecca said it was critical for the next generation of practitioners to have mentors for inspiration.

“Many of you are already trailblazers, generously giving of your time to those just starting out; advocating for our profession and the community via being involved within the Law Society and our working groups, for this I thank you sincerely.”
