North Queensland lawyers, paralegals and support staff turned out in force for the first Queensland Law Society Seller Disclosure Roadshow event yesterday.
QLS CEO Matt Dunn and Legal Policy Manager Wendy Devine travelled to Townsville for the inaugural event to talk about how these reforms will impact firms.
“It is a golden opportunity for the profession to re-engage with their clients who are looking at buying property,” Matt said.
“We spoke about the role of solicitors and real estate agents in conveyancing matters and there was a great cross-section in the audience of paralegals, junior solicitors and senior solicitors with 40 and 50 years of experience.”
InfoTrack General Manager of Sales Lynette Barlow.
Wendy said they were delighted to have the opportunity to speak directly with practitioners.
“It was great to have a sell-out crowd showing this level of interest in these once-in-a-generation law reforms in Queensland,” she said.
“Townsville practitioners asked practical questions about ensuring compliance with the regulations and the new forms.
“There was good discussion about working with their clients to gather the information needed to meet seller obligations.”
The roadshow, which also discusses the updated REIQ contracts, heads to Cairns today.
